Ubiquitous throughout most of Erj, ash is an airborne particulate that builds on surfaces over time, coalescing into fungus-like structures that luminesce before spewing ever more into the atmosphere. The presence of ash is little more than an annoyance to the average healthy Erjan, but over time can prove deadly to the sick and wounded; most sylph cannot breathe ash at all for more than a few minutes, requiring cumbersome filtration suits when travelling beyond their homeland of Llyri.
