Forthcoming though members of the Western Allied Postal Guild may not be, there can be no question their vocation at the very least requires certain qualities, chief among these being an extraordinary resourcefulness and breadth of knowledge. Guild members enter the open Waste, often for weeks at a time, carrying substantial cargo, and entirely alone save whatever bandits, beasts, thralls, or challenging environmental factors may happen upon them.
While knowledge alone can theoretically best all of these threats, it is not unreasonable to assume that the most capable Guild members likely have some measure of skill in combat.
