The young girl continues to outpace the three men—as she runs down the center of the market street, vendors on either side of her offer their wares to passersby.

A cart laden with a precarious cargo of clay pots crosses her path. The girl smiles, seeing an opportunity as her pursuers quickly close the gap.

She heaves her bag overhead. It tumbles through the air over the cart as she drops to her side, nimbly sliding beneath the cart’s undercarriage. Exiting the other side, the girl jumps to catch her bag.

Ras Huran was once the largest and most affluent port city in Erj, until decades ago, fierce tides tore into the harbour, destroying the docks and the hundreds of ships moored there. Since the disaster, the city has been given a nickname: the Port of Ghosts. As Ras Huran crumbles around them, thousands of stranded merchants desperately trade their wares back and forth, an incestuous economy that has enveloped much of the city, turning it into practically endless market space. New goods are rare, and highly prized.
