Dal climbs onto her stool, glaring at her father as continues to chastise her. The broken bird skull is still in her hand.

Ilm [out of view]

You know, you and your sister have got to start getting along.

A bowl of soup is placed in front of Dal.

Dal

It's not my fault she's such a big dumb jerk.

Dal stirs the soup, swirling a fork through noodles and sliced meats. Her reflection moodily stares back at her.

Ilm [out of view]

Your sister is training for a very important job, Dee.

Dal

...Not MY faith...

Ilm smiles in response, patronizing, and ladles more soup.

Ilm

Oh, you'll... understand, some day.

I don't doubt you'll be an even greater scholar than me!

Looking up from her lunch, Dal frowns.

Dal

...She still doesn't have to be so mean to me.

Ilm sits next to his daughter. His laden fork hangs in the air as he replies.

Ilm

You're right. She doesn't.

Your mother and-- Well, I will talk to her about it.

Again.

Sometimes I wonder what Ybris put in that kid...

Though typically immune to the effects of ash, even non-sylph prefer to use Llyran produce in their cooking, for its ability to clear the respiratory system and provide a literal breath of fresh air. The culinary demand is so great, in fact, that produce outranks even moonstone as Llyri’s number one export. Of course, this makes it a luxury only the wealthiest erjans can afford—and those who can afford it often accept nothing less.
