Eidolans are widely considered to be immortal, and the lifespans observed by successive generations of erjan researchers seem to bear this out, in a practical sense. However, that few if any known eidolans have died of natural causes does not preclude the possibility that they could eventually die—but unfortunately, a study of this scope is infeasible for the need to communicate and store information across epoch-scale durations of time, and very few eidolans have ever shown much enthusiasm for intergenerational homework.
