Zyr kneels in front of their pack beast, petting her snout as Eld and Ro question his translation skills.

Ro & Eld

You think?

Zyr

Hey, Erjan is not exactly an elegant language.

We're lucky I know any at all!

But yeah, sounds like they keep the city locked up at night, to ward off attack.

Thralls and such.

Raising her eyebrows, Ro cracks her knuckles.

Ro

'And such?'

Ro waves a hand in the direction of the city guards.

Zyr

I dunno. 'And suneaters?' I was only getting every other word.

Ro

So, we just... sit here? Because some peon said so?

Eld

Cool it, Ro.

It's only another half hour or so, and the conservator speaks proper sylph.

Her face drawn in a tight scowl and ignoring her superior's orders, Ro stomps past Eld as he shouts for her.

Eld

In the meantime, we can show them some respec--

RO!

Oh, for--

Zyr rolls his eyes and shrugs in response before he dashes to catch up with Ro on her way to confront the posted Ras Huran guards.

The Celestial Heritage Conservatory continues to deny that Erj’s sylph population is on the decline. Nevertheless, in recent years, the Templar seminary has softened its requirements for potential initiates in order to combat dwindling enlistment rates. While this has seen a measure of success, some of these ‘new-wave’ Templar are not exactly what the Conservatory would expect, and initiates’ psychological profiles, strength of faith, and combat effectiveness often leave much to be desired. However, this new breed of Templar has also provided an unexpected benefit in the form of a more worldly perspective—curiosity and knowledge about other places and cultures has helped the sylph strengthen relations all over Erj. Some consider this a dilution of the sylph faith, but at this point, the Conservatory simply can’t afford to be selective.
