A decadent’s desire is Cynosure—to rise above and transcend the blandness of common existence, and be celebrated by Nyue as a beacon of Isness, a worthy representation of her splendor. To this end, decadents stalk the cities and settlements of Erj, amassing as much wealth as they can manage in the hopes that they will attain Cynosure, to impress and be recognized by their god.
The Weight of Existence is key to this endeavour, and he will protect it with his life. In the event the Weight is lost or destroyed—irrespective of the wealth he has gained—a decadent is not permitted re-entry to the Luminous Body, and therefore can never achieve Cynosure, forever condemning him to the purgatory of common existence.
