Templar initiates, upon undergoing the procedure of commission into the program, are faced with a choice: which weapon to wield in protecting the Conservatory—and the sylph moral foundation—from its enemies. The sylph have developed a wide variety of tools for combat, and Templar are not trained uniformly in the use of any one in particular. It is believed, rather, that a given Templar will reach the zenith of performance if left to pursue one implement fully; to master its basics and innovate their own techniques, their own rhythm, that they may feel the weapon is less a tool than an expression of their athletic creativity. In general, this approach seems to work, and some truly unique weapons have sprung from individual Templar requesting specific modifications to fit particular stylistic requirements.
