The term ‘ash breather’ is a slur used by sylph primarily against those of their own kind whose respiratory systems are able to process airborne ash. However, the term is also used generically to refer to any member of Erj’s other three races, all of whom can freely breathe Erj’s air without assistance.
As the sylph view Erj to be a purgatory, so too do they see those who can thrive within it to be beneath personhood.
